Today Tamil prisoners in vavuniya jail captured three prison officers as their captives and hold them in their custody. The unrest started after the prisoners found that their fellow inmate Mr.Saravanabhavan was transferred to Anuradhapura prison and tortured there. There were 31 Tamil prisoners there in Vavuniya Jail. Along with two prisoners the Prison officers took Saravanabhnavan to Anuradhapura prison and transferred the other to poosa camp. It is said that Saravanabhavan was trasfered to Anurathapura prison due to his case was in Anurathapura Jurisdiction
It was later confirmed by the prisoners in vavuniya that Saravanabhavan was tortured in Anuradhapura jail and came to know that shit thrown on him and poured on his head. Anurathapura prision Officers together with some prisoners acting as their goons continue their torture on Saravanabhavan and after that they took him to unknown destination. Nobody knows about his whereabouts.
His fellow prisoners in Vavuniya jail fasting and demanding to bring Saravanabhavn and show him to them alive. They are long fighting for their rights inside the prison and demanding their fair treatment in prison. Speaking about whether they are intended to misbehave violently and try to break the jail, they deny the charges.
They proclaim that they obey the court and prison officers and they did not behave violently. They said all their protests are peaceful. They demand the safety of their inmates and want them fairly treated. Justice is what they want.
