The GMOA Branch office has given time till August 20 for their demands to be met. If there was no favourable response from the authorities, the Branch union, with the approval of its parent union would take stronger trade union action, he said.
Although former Hospital Director Dr. B. Pashupathyraja was transferred to the Health Ministry, until the formal Inquiry was completed, no action to transfer the AO and PO had been taken, he told The Island. He said that the second issue was that before Dr. Ms. Pashupathyraja left, she had appointed junior medical officers to serve in the OPD, though were senior and Grade I doctors who could have served there.
When contacted Jaffna Acting Hospital Director Dr. Shanmuganadan Sri Bawanandaraja said that he had transferred PO Peiris to another unit of the hospital, but he had no authority to transfer the AO. It was a PSC appointment. He had forwarded the copies of the trade union letter to the Ministry for action, he said.
