The Sir Lankan government is to set up eight domestic airports in the country at a cost of Rs. 750 million.
Civil Aviation Minister Priyankara Jayaratne has said that eight domestic airports would be set up in Koggala, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Sigiriya, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Ampara, and Palaviya.
Minister Jayaratne has said that out of the Rs. 750 million, some monies would be used to develop the Ratmalana airport.
According to the Minister, Sri Lanka Air Force will handled the construction work of the airports while the Road Development Authority is to build the runways, each two kilometers in length, in the airports.
