Protests have been taking place for the last several years demanding the release of thousands or to give information about the ones who had gone missing during the final stage of the war or abducted by unidentified gangs.
The Sri Lankan government has still not given them any solution. But in the recent times Tamil prisoners detained in the prisons have been assaulted and sometimes maimed and killed. Amidst all this, protests in the democratic way for the release or to provide information regarding their kith and kin are also on the increase.
In the meantime hundreds of relatives of the missing persons took part in the prayer protest organized by the Tamil National Alliance yesterday. Those who took part in the prayer protest yesterday smashed 1008 coconuts and prayed to the God with tears rolling down, for justice and to bring back their kith and kin back to them or at least provide information of their whereabouts.
