Sources say that the SLMC has demanded two ministerial portfolios of the Eastern Provincial Council plus a bonus seat of the council.
Political sources say that government ally and the major Muslim party, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) has laid out conditions to support the ruling pary to form the administration of the Eastern Provincial Council.
Sources say that the SLMC has demanded two ministerial portfolios of the Eastern Provincial Council plus a bonus seat of the council.
In addition, SLMC has also demanded a cabinet portfolio or three posts of deputy ministers from the central government.
SLMC also wants to guarantee Muslim demands in power sharing as well.
SLMC supreme council meeting was held last night and these demands were discussed, party sources say adding that there is another faction in the party that wants to ally with the major Tamil party Tamil National Alliance (TNA) demanding the Chief Minister position.
The SLMC, winning 7 seats at the Eastern PC elections held Saturday, became the king maker when none of the major parties won a clear majority to form the EPC administration.
