Department of Wildlife Conservation disrupts the livelihood of the people of Mullikulam -Reporter for Global Tamil News-

The officers of the Department of Wildlife Conservation cause various inconvenient to the people of resettled Mullikulam village, who are engaged in fishing in the river situated just one kilometer from their residency in order to uplift their livelihood, according to the regret expressed by the people of Mullikulam.

People of Mullikulam have been catching fish especially “Matti” and “Quoti” in this particular river for several years in order to uplift their livelihood.

Uprooted people of Mullivaikal resettled at their own village a few weeks ago. Now they have been residing at the temporary huts situated nearby the Mullikulam temple. These people, who were engaged in farming and fishing, started catching fish in this particular river at this situation.

Meanwhile, the officers of the Department of Wildlife Conservation have been assaulting those who go to the river to catch fish for a few days. Also, these officers have produced some of those, who go to the river to catch fish, before Mannar Majistrate where these innocent people of Mullikulam were imposed to pay fine; the people further expressed their regret.

The officers of the Department of Wildlife Conservation, who claimed this particular river as its come under their control, assaulted and intimidated the people of Mullikulam saying none would come to catch fish in this particular river.

Therefore, the respective officials and the parliamentarians are pleased to intervene into this matter to take proper actions against the activities of the officers of the Department of Wildlife Conservation and take the needy steps to make sure the livelihood of the people of Mullikulam in this river.
