Minister Douglas Devananda decides to contest independently in the general elections

Minister and EPDP leader Douglas Devananda stated he would contest independently in the forthcoming general elections.
 
He said people of Jaffna know him well and it would not be appropriate to contest under the UPFA symbol and added this might have an effect on the votes he would gain.

However minister Devananda said he would not the leave the UPFA government and would rejoin them right after the general elections.
