Hundreds of fishermen of Thalai Mannar village, who gathered in front of the Thalai Mannar Police Station, expressed their opposing condemning the occupying Sri Lankan Navy’s action of returning the fishermen, who have gone to catch fish, as the continuation of the disruptions being committed at “Theedai” by the Navy to the fishermen of Thalai Mannar Village.
The affected fishermen, who have gone to the Thalai Mannar Navy Base, gave explanations to the Navy Officers about the prevailing issues that they face and they have made a complaint in this regard to the Police Station. They staged this protest as no actions have been taken till then, they added.
It is noted that carrying placards reading that demanding the permission to continue their fishing at “Theedai” where they have been catching fish for several years.
