Lands cannot be seized without the permission of Provincial Council -Reporter for Global Tamil News-

A resolution has been passed at the Jaffna District Coordinating Committee meeting stating that Lands cannot be seized without the permission of Northern Provincial Council.

The above mentioned resolution has been passed at the Jaffna District Coordinating Committee meeting co-chaired by Chief Minister CV.Vigneshwaran, Minister Vijayakala Maheshwaran and the TNA parliamentarian Mavai Senathirajah held at the auditorium located in Jaffna District Secretariat yesterday.

In this meeting, it has been pointed out that occupying Sri Lankan military has been making attempts to seize the lands of people of Mandaitivu which comes under the Velanai Divisonal Secretariat.

Sri Lankan government, that creates the semblance of releasing the lands, intensifies its activities of seizing the lands.

Thus, Sri Lankan government has taken steps to seize 18 acres of land in Madaitivu, according to the parliamentarian Sritharan and the NPC member Vinthan Kanagaratnam.

They further added that seizure of lands by the occupying Sri Lankan military cannot be allowed while condemning the seizure of lands.

Despite the orders from Colombo ordering either the Government Agent or Divisional Secretary to give lands to the needs of the military, those lands cannot be given without the permission of Provincial Council in accordance with 13th amendment to the constitution.
