NADA threatens North, East and North-central provinces

The deep depression in the South-west Bay of Bengal has developed into the cyclonic storm “NADA” and was located around 400km to the east of the Mullaitivu coast this evening. The storm is expected to move north-westward closer to the Jaffna peninsula.

The Department of Meteorology said the storm is likely cross the North Tamil Nadu coast tomorrow (01st December). Under the influence of the storm, very strong winds and heavy showers are expected in the Northern, Eastern and North-central provinces till Friday.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, Eastern and North-central provinces. Heavy falls (more than 100 mm) can be expected at some places.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the Western, North-Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces.
