President meets with National Security Council, instructs tri forces to strengthen security

Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena has convened a meeting of the National Security Council this evening (13) under at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo, the President’s Media Division said.

During the meeting, the President had advised the Commanders of the tri-forces and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to carry out a special program to strengthen security maintaining the peace in the country.

Earlier the IGP has instructed all senior police officers to strengthen security in the country expecting sabotage activities following the Supreme Court ruling that stayed the President’s gazette notifying the dissolution of parliament.
