Demonstration in solidarity with the hunger protest staged by the Political Prisoners and emphasizing their release held yesterday in front of the Mullaitivu District Secretariat. People’s representatives and public organizations, who took part in this demonstration, submitted a memorandum at the District Secretariat.
Political Prisoners are still being detained in the prolonged detention without trial. As the assurances made are yet to be implemented despite hunger protests were staged by the Political Prisoners several times, the Political Prisoners in the Anuradhapura Prison now started staging hunger strike. In solidarity with their hunger protest, Political Prisoners in other prisons have been staging hunger protest.
