Second Reading of 2021 budget passed in the Parliament

The second reading of 2021 budget has been approved in the parliament yesterday (21) with a majority of 99 votes.

A total of 151 MPs voted in favor of the Second Reading of the budget while 52 MPs voted against it.

The debate of the committee stage will be held from 23rd November to 10th December and the final vote will take place on 10th December at 5.00 pm.

Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa tabled the Appropriation Bill for the year 2021 in parliament on 17 November.
