The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) is to join the United National Party (, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) to challenge dissolution of Parliament in court.

“All the SLMC MPs will petition the Supreme Court challenging the purported dissolution of Parliament seeking an annulment of the dissolution which is untenable as per the 19th Amendment,” SLMC leader Rauff Hakeem said.

Last week the UNP, JVP and TNA said it will file a fundamental rights petition in court against the President’s decision to dissolve Parliament.
