Sri Lanka welcomes Indian PM’s call for SAARC nations to formulate a strong strategy to fight Coronavirus

Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today thanked the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his call for the South Asian nations to come together to chalk out a strong strategy to fight the coronavirus COVID-19 rapidly spreading globally.

Prime Minister Modi further suggested that these strategies could be discussed, via video conferencing and by coming together SAARC nations can set an example to the world and contribute to a healthier planet.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa echoing Prime Minister Modi’s call said Sri Lanka is ready to join the discussion and share its learnings and best practices and to learn from other.

“Let’s unite in solidarity during these trying times and keep our citizens safe,” President Rajapaksa said in a Twitter message.

In a series of tweets, PM Modi said that South Asia, which is home to a significant number of the global population should leave no stone unturned to ensure the health of its people. He also said that the Indian Government is trying its best at various levels to combat COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus.
