UNP leader plans to work on rebuilding party’s Sinhala Buddhist voter base

The leader of the United National Party, Prime Minister Rani Wickremesinghe has stated that the party has lost the confidence of the Sinhala Buddhist voters.

During a meeting with a group of United National Party (UNP) parliamentarians today, the party leader has note that the “the results of the presidential election show that the Buddhist community has lost confidence in the party.”

The Prime Minister has pointed out that the main challenge is to build a young leadership team that can protect the party’s Sinhala Buddhist base.

The Prime Minister has said that he will urge the party’s youth leaders to take action next week to work towards building a program to regain the lost voter confidence.
