Monks force their way past gates near President’s House

A tense situation arose today as monks and students forced their way past the gates near the President’s House in Fort.

The monks from the Inter University Bhikkhus’ Federation staged a protest march and headed towards the President’s House.

The Police closed the gates near the entrance to the Central Bank, preventing the protesters from going forward,

However, the monks and others with them forced open the gates and moved towards the President’s House.

The protesters later staged a demonstration near the clock tower located close to the President’s House.

The group later moved towards Galle Face and joined the ongoing protest at Galle face.
