The Executive Director of the UN World Food Program (WFP), David Beasley is planning to visit Sri Lanka soon, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said Friday.
The Premier in a Twitter post said he spoke to the Head of the World Food Program and extended an invitation for him to visit Sri Lanka.
According to the Prime Minister, the Executive Director of WFP has accepted his invitation and is planning to visit shortly.
The Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe further stated in the Twitter message that he appreciates all the assistance extended by the World Food Program to Sri Lanka.
The United Nations Thursday launched an appeal for over $ 47 million of life-saving assistance to 1.7 million people worst-hit by the economic crisis in Sri Lanka.
