The Hindus in the country are fuming with rage on the continuous appointment of a Muslim to look after Hindu Religious Affairs.
M.K.Sivajilingham, the TNA member of the Northern Provincial Council raised the issue yesterday in the 124th session of the Northern Provincial Council and questioned the mentality of the Sri Lankan President on appointing a Muslim, and a person involved anti-Hindu practice of slaughtering cows which are sacred to the Hindus.
He reproached the Sri Lankan President for appointing a Muslim as Deputy Minister of Hindu Religious Affairs. The action of the President amounts to discrimination levelled against the Hindus of the Country, charged Sivajilingham.
In his contumely Sivajilingham pointed out that since of late, the utterances and actions of the President indicates the prevalence of a greater degree of abnormality which warrants an immediate medical checkup.
In the meantime, Vadivel Suresh UNP Parliamentarian and General Secretary of the Lanka Jathika Estate Workers’ Union told that President Maithripala Sirisena must re-consider the appointment of K. Kader Masthan as the Deputy Minister of Resettlement, Rehabilitation, Northern Development and Hindu Affairs.
He said the President should take into account the fact that Mr. Masthan was a Muslim.
“It would have been better if a Hindu MP was appointed to be in charge of Hindu Affairs. Any one appointed to be in charge of religious affairs should be from the religion concerned and not from another religion,” the MP said.
