It has become known that actions are being taken in secret to make the 100 acres of land in Killinochchi available to a private company based in Southern Sri Lanka.
It has been further said that a discussion with regard to it has taken place at the Killinochchi District Secretariat. Many including the officials of Central Land Ministry, officials of Department of Forest Conservation and higher ranking officers of the Killinochchi District have taken part in this meeting.
Actions are being taken in secret to make the 100 acres of land in Killinochchi available to a private company based in Southern Sri Lanka to construct a Saltern either at Kunchuparanthan or the places at the vicinity of it. The Department of Forest Conservation, which has no possession of this land actually, falsely claimed that this land is belonging to them and it has been making efforts to make this land available to this private company based in Southern Sri Lanka, according to the sources from there.
It has been further added that politicians and district level officers have given their support to this attempt. Department of Forest Conservation has been falsely proclaiming that lands, playgrounds, ponds and paddy fields of people are belonging to them. People are now shocked because of its attempt to make the 100 acres of land in Killinochchi available to a private company based in Southern Sri Lanka.
In addition, if the Saltern is set up at the 100 acres of land in this area, the places at the vicinity of it will become salinity. Thus people will be affected much, according to the sources from there.
