While admitting the fact that the government including security forces and intelligence services should take the responsibility for not being able to prevent the Easter Sunday attack, Megapolis and Western Development Minister Champika Ranawaka said yesterday the solution to the issue was not to oust the government but to formulate a joint national programme to address the issue.
He told parliament that bringing in a no-confidence motion against the government would only allow international terrorism to enter Sri Lanka by creating anarchy in the country.
“The government cannot get away from its responsibility. The whole government including security forces and intelligence services should take responsibility. Is resigning of the government the solution to the issue?” he asked and added that it would only pave way for anarchy in the country.
He said there should be an anti-terrorism programme to address the extremist terrorism in the country. The minister speaking at the debate on the no-confidence motion against the government said the responsibility of the parliament was to bring in new laws to address issues such as shariya laws and madrasa schools, as to remove uncertainty and suspicions of the people.
