The Army says it will release 1099 acres of farmland in the North and East next month.
A statement by the Army today said that in addition to the ongoing process of releasing private and state land occupied by the Army in the North and East, President Maithripala Sirisena has issued instructions to release state land used as Army farms in the North and East.
Accordingly, the Army says, 1099 acres of farmland in the North and East have been identified to be released.
The Army says the land will be released during the second week of January, 2019.
Meanwhile, the Army was scheduled to release more private land by December 31st, 2018 but the process had been delayed.
