Attorney General Dappula Livera has sent a 130-page long letter to the Inspector General of Police C.D. Wickramaratne regarding the investigations into the Easter Sunday attack.
The Attorney General has written to the IGP asking him to submit excerpts from the investigations into the five suspects in the Easter attack.
The Attorney General has stated in the letter that 42 suspects have been named as ‘A’ group suspects arrested in connection with the Easter attack
Attorney General’s Coordinating Officer State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said the written evidence should be obtained regarding the 42 suspects and the letter sent by the Attorney General to the IGP also noted that investigations into five suspects are incomplete.
It is reported that the Attorney General has informed that due to improper investigations, it may not be possible to prosecute the suspects of the Easter Sunday Attack during his tenure.
The Attorney General is due to retire at the end of this month after completing his term.
