The Chinese Government will construct 2000 free houses for the benefit of low-income families in Colombo upon a request made by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, a minister said yesterday.
Megapolis and Western Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka told the Daily Mirror that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this project would be signed tomorrow (9).
He said the Urban Development Authority (UDA) would allocate lands for the construction of these houses. “The UDA will also handle the consultancy services for the construction of these houses, each costing Rs. 5 million”, before adding that 100 houses would be built for the benefit of artists.
