Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland held talks on wide ranging issues with Sri Lanka today.
Scotland, who is in Sri Lanka on an official visit, had separate talks with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana and Sports Minister Faiszer Musthapha.
Following her meeting with the Prime Minister, Scotland lauded Sri Lanka for being a blue charter champion on mangroves, its support for the Commonwealth Small States Trade Finance Facility and dedication to universal healthcare.
On her meeting with the Foreign Minister she said she was pleased to engage again with him on the CHOGM 2018 mandate delivery, including a blue charter.
With the Sports Minister she said she discussed the need to champion the Commonwealth Community Cricketing Cup.
She and the Minister also agreed on the benefits of using sport as a tool for peace and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
