The European Union (EU) says it will continue to support the reforms process in Sri Lanka as well as the reconciliation process.
The EU Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives for the Delegation of the European Union (EU), Tung-Laï Margue said that the EU is convinced progress on these issues will ensure lasting peace and prosperity for all Sri Lankans.
Tung-Laï Margue was speaking at a reception hosted by the EU in Colombo last evening (Tuesday) to mark EU Day.
Speaking further the Ambassador noted the positive impact on the Sri Lankan economy from the lifting of the EU ban on Sri Lankan fisheries products and the granting of the GSP plus trade concession to the country.
The European Union lifted the ban on fisheries products imported from Sri Lanka in 2016.
The ban was lifted after Sri Lanka successfully reformed its fisheries governance system.
