Condemning the unaccountability of Sri Lankan government with regard to the enforced disappearances and demanding the accountability of the Sri Lankan government with regard to those who were disappeared and those who were disappeared after being surrendered to the Sri Lankan armed forces, fast unto death has begun yesterday in Vavuniya. Association of those seek the disappeared called for this hunger strike.
After worshiping at Vavuniya Kandaswamy temple, the relatives of those who were disappeared have marched near to Vavuniya Post Office from where they began the hunger strike.
Public organizations and those who are interested in the issue of those who were disappeared supported the hunger strike.
12 protestors have decided to fast unto death whereas others would participate in this protest for supporting them, according to the organizers of this protest.
It is announced that this fast unto death will continue till a decisive response from the government is reached.
