Pongal festival with the theme of “Festival of Tamils” is going to be celebrated on 6th of July with the intention of showing the strength of Tamils against the occupiers in order to make sure the Land Rights of Tamils and to ensure the existence of the Semmalai Neeraviyadi Pillaiyar temple which is still being occupied by the Sinhala Buddhist monks who have the hidden agenda of sinhalicising the Tamils’ homeland.
Thus, traditional pilgrimage from Kottaikerni Pillaiyar temple which is located at Kokkuththoduvai, which is the border village of Tamils’ homeland that is still being appropriated by the Sinhala Buddhist, to Neeraviyadi Pillaiyar temple
The organizers of this call the youths, social activists, politicians and religious leaders to get together as the Tamils who are always against the land grabbing in order to show the strength of Tamils against the occupiers.
Temple Administration together with the Social Media Friends organized this “Pongal in 108 pots”.
It is noteworthy that having considered the inconveniences of the people in going to this festival, bus services from Jaffna, Trincomalee, Mannar, Killinochchi and Vavuniya districts have also been arranged.
