Sri Lanka’s former president Mahinda Rajapaksa has not abandoned favoring his family in politics yet, National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Freedom party (SLFP) and Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources & Disaster Management Duminda Dissanayake says.
Addressing the SLFP Matale district committee meeting today, Minister Dissanayake said the former president and Kurunegala district parliamentarian Mahinda Rajapaksa is creating the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) to take revenge from SLFP members.
“We were against him because he was favoring the family. He is still implementing it today. We are not ready as a party to build family nepotism in the party. Therefore, we can no longer join Mahinda Rajapaksa”, said Duminda Dissanayake.
SLFP organizer for Matale District Udaya Anuradha had organized the meeting today to apprise the party members of appointing new party officers and future plans of the party.
Deputy Minister Sarath Dushmantha and former Minister Nandimithra Ekanayake were among the large number of supporters of the party present at the meeting.
