Former president and joint opposition parliamentarian Mahinda Rajapaksa is not signing the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, state media reports.
It is reported that the joint opposition has signed the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Wickremesinghe today (16/03) and that former president Mahinda Rajapaksa has not signed it.
Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa says his group has not decided whether the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s signature is needed or not. However, reportedly only about 20 MPs have signed the no-confidence motion against the Premier.
Meanwhile UNP Parliamentarian Nalin Bandara says there is no hesitation facing the no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister. He said that it is a right of the Joint opposition to bring no-faith motions reminding that they have unsuccessfully brought so many no-faith motions during this government and the same that will happen to this motion as well.
MP Nalin Bandara says that there is no overall support for the joint opposition’s game.
