President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has instructed the officials of the Ministry of Lands and Land Development to complete the survey of all land units in the country.
The President instructed the Ministry officials to take steps to issue ownership certificates for each land unit following a thorough survey.
A total of 14 million land units have been identified so far and only 10 percent has been surveyed in the last 20 years. The President instructed the officials to complete the survey of remaining 90 percent of the survey without spending much time.
The President has issued directives to expedite the surveying process and to ensure necessary facilities required to fulfil this objective are provided promptly.
Under this program concerns relating to partnership disputes, borderless lands and other land related issues will be settled.
The President instructed that modern surveying equipment, drone cameras and other necessities to be used when completing the necessary work.
The President pointed out the importance of bringing all surveys in one database and making the information available to anyone.
The President’s Media Division said the discussion also focused on referring new graduates to the Human Resources Dept. of the Surveyor’s Department to fulfil the labor shortage at the Department
Secretary to the President Dr. PB Jayasundera and officials of Land Development Ministry were present on the occasion.
