Government officers are obstacles to reopen the Mayiliddi TB Hospital after being renovated, according to the accusation made by Dr. Jamunanantha, the Jaffna District Tuberculosis Medical Officer.
He stated like this in his meeting with the journalists at the Tuberculosis Unit located at Pannai, Jaffna.
The Mayiliddi TB Hospital which was being occupied by the occupying Sri Lankan military has been handed over to the Thellipalai Divisional Secretariat. However, constructive steps to reopen it after being renovated are yet to be taken by the government officials.
It is stated that the land is going to be used for some other purpose instead of using it for TB Hospital.
Tuberculosis can be controlled in the north if this hospital is reopened.
303 patients were taken the tuberculosis in Jaffna last year. 66 patients have been affected by tuberculosis this year. 12 died among the 303 patients who were taken the tuberculosis last year, Dr. Jamunantha further added.
