President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has ordered to immediately implement the recommendations of the Easter Sunday Commission within the legal framework before April 21 for everyone to see, Minister Prof. GL Peiris said.
Therefore, it is not difficult to realize the request made by Archbishop Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith to implement the recommendations of the Easter Commission before April 21, and the government is committed to bringing the culprits to justice by revealing the full truth of the Easter attack, the Minister said.
The Minister made this statement at a special media briefing held by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) at the Water’s Edge Hotel in Battaramulla yesterday (15).
The Minister said that the President has instructed government agencies and officials to take steps to start each institution as per the recommendations of the Easter Commission report with dates.
He said 99 suspects had been arrested in Sri Lanka in connection with the Easter attacks and 54 had fled to foreign countries. Out of them 50 had been arrested and brought to the country while four others are to be arrested in foreign countries.
He further said that there is a strong determination and desire to implement the recommendations of the Presidential Commission on Easter Attack.
