People of Keppapulavu are going to mark the 71st Independece Day of Sri Lanka which is to be held on 4th of February as the Day of Mourning. The people of Keppapulavu who have been protesting for 704 days stated that they are going to stage a massive protest on the Independece Day of Sri Lanka.
These people, who have been protesting in front of the occupying Sri Lankan Military Camp in the midst of several intimidations, stated that they are going to mark the Independece Day of Sri Lanka as the Day of Mourning by using black clothes.
They have been staging protestest demanding the release of their native lands for 704 days at the street while loosing their livelihood, habitat and education of their children. Therefore, the Independece Day of Sri Lanka is not the Independence Day for them. Actually speaking Sri Lankan government has claimed it as a Day of Mourning by letting this people at this plight, according to the people of Keppapulavu.
They are going to oppose the Independece Day of Sri Lanka to mark the occupation of the occupying government, they added.
They further called for the support of all section to this protest demanding for the release of their native lands.
