Indian Defence Adviser in Sri Lanka Capt. Vikas Sood met Defence Secretary Major General (Retired) Kamal Gunaratne, at the Ministry on Friday (09).
Highlighting the long existed bilateral ties between two countries, Capt. Vikas praised the ‘Operations Sagar Araksha’ activities for successfully dousing the fire onboard MT New Diamond recently.
Defence Secretary said he is grateful to the Indian Government for successfully conducting the operation and also paid his concerns into the significance of maritime cooperation and the effectiveness of interoperability between both countries.
He also commended the supportive measures extended for this naval operation in order to protect marine resources, livelihood, tourism and fisheries.
Capt. Vikas discussed on introducing India’s Jaipur artificial foot production to Sri Lanka in order to uplift the livelihood of differently-able persons.
Further, both high officials had cordial discussions on matters of mutual relevance during the session.
