The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court yesterday (16) that investigations are being carried out under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act into the Central Bank bond scam case that took place in 2015.
The complaint was taken up before Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne yesterday.
The seven suspects, including Arjun Aloysius, the director of Perpetual Treasuries, who was released on bail in connection with the Central Bank bond scam, appeared in court today.
Officers of the CID informed the court that further investigations are being carried out into the case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
Accordingly, the court ordered the case to be called on November 12 and directed the CID to report on the progress of the investigation on that day.
The CID has launched an investigation against eight persons, including the then Governor of the Central Bank, Arjuna Mahendran, and the owner of Perpetual Treasury, Arjun Aloysius, over irregularities in a bond auction conducted by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka on February 27, 2015.
