The Law and order Ministry says it has taken note of some concerns raised related to the recent incident in Ampara.
According to the Law and Order Ministry, there have been complaints that the law was not fully implemented when the incident took place.
There have also been complaints that the report filed in court related to the incident was misleading.
The Law and Order Ministry, which comes under Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, said that the Batticaloa range Police DIG has been instructed to conduct a comprehensive investigation on the incident.
The Ministry said that steps have also been taken to pay compensation to those affected by the incident and also rebuild the shops and mosque damaged in the incident.
A mob had attacked a Muslim shop over allegations that some pills had mixed with the food. The mob later attacked a mosque and other property.
