The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has arrested a principal of a madrasa school, Mohamed Shakeel for aiding and abetting Attorney-at-Law Hejaaz Hizbullah, who has been arrested in connection with the Easter Sunday attack.
Mohamed Shakeel was arrested by the CID after the Attorney General instructed the IGP CD Wickramaratne to produce the madrasa school principal to a relevant Magistrate’s Court.
Mohamed Shakeel is to be charged for abetting Hejaaz Hizbullah on the charges under section 02 (1) (h) of the Prevention of Terrorism Act and section 03 (1) of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the coordinating officer to the Attorney General State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said.
Meanwhile, Attorney General Dappula de Livera yesterday instructed IGP CD Wickramaratne to produce Hejaaz Hizbullah before the relevant court.
