Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to take the relationship with Sri Lanka to higher levels.
Modi said this in a statement extending warm felicitations to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the independence of Sri Lanka.
“Relations between our two countries, anchored in our shared history and culture, have grown over the years to become truly multifaceted. It is our shared responsibility and aspiration to further strengthen these bonds,” he said.
Prime Minister Modi noted that last year was marked by regular exchange of visits and extensive bilateral interactions which added momentum to the dynamic partnership between Sri Lanka and India.
“I look forward to continue working with you to take our relationship to higher levels, particularly in the economic sphere, for the mutual benefit of the people of our countries. Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration and best wishes for your good health, personal wellbeing and the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Sri Lanka,” he said.
