Ninety-five Navy personnel are reported to have been infected with COVID-19 in Sri Lanka as of yesterday.
Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said among the infected officers, 68 are from the Navy Camp in Welisara and 27 are officers from the camp who had gone on leave.
PCR testing has been carried out on most Navy officers at the Navy Camp in Welisara as well as those who had gone on leave, he said.
Commander Silva said officers from the Navy Camp in Welisara who had gone on leave had been found in Kurunegala and Anuradhapura.
The families of the said officers have been moved to quarantine centers, while those who had come into contact with the officers have been traced and have been placed under self-quarantine.
The Sri Lanka Navy is conducting further contact tracing of all Navy officers infected with COVID-19, the Army Commander added.
