President Maithripala Sirisena and the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) met today and had talks on key issues.
The President’s office said that they discussed the need for a political solution to address the issues faced by the Tamils and also development projects in the North.
Meanwhile, TNA Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran told reporters that the issue on Tamil political prisoners was also discussed.
He said that further talks are expected to take place on the Tamil political prisoner issue next week.
TNA leader R. Sampanthan led the TNA at the meeting with the President.
Meanwhile, a delegation from the Tamil Progressive Alliance also met President Maithripala Sirisena today.
Attention was drawn to the salary issues of the estate community and the further regulation of the development activities in those areas.
Leader of the Tamil Progressive Alliance, Minister Mano Ganeshan and Ministers Pallani Digambaram and Radhakrishna were also present at the meeting.
