President Maithripala Sirisena’s security has been tightened as investigations into an alleged plot to kill him continue.
Presidential adviser Sarath Kongahage said that precautionary steps have been taken to strengthen his security.
He recalled that former Sri Lankan leaders had been killed or attacked in Sri Lanka with the assistance of people close to them.
Presidential adviser Shiral Lakthilaka said that there was an attempt being made to suppress the whole issue.
He said that there is talk of a foreigner being involved in the plot to kill the President and there are attempts to use that claim to disregard the whole threat.
