Protest demanding the release of the lands of People belonging to Keppapulavu has been continuing for 18th day. Protest of the people demanding the release of their lands even in the midst of heavy snowy and sunny climate has been continuing so far by besieging the occupying Sri Lankan Military Camp.
Lands of people belonging to Keppapulavu were taken over by the occupying Sri Lankan Air Force. The people of this area have been staging various protests demanding the release of their lands since being resettled.
As their lands are yet to be released, people of this area have been staging protest by besieging the occupying Sri Lankan Military Camp. But the Sri Lankan government has unofficially stated that lands of the people belonging to Keppapulavu would be released.
However, lands of these people are yet to be released though 18 days have passed. The Sri Lankan government also stated that these lands could not be released overnight. Nevertheless, people warned the government that their protest would not be given up till their lands get released.
Meanwhile, protests seem to be spread throughout north and east in solidarity with the protest of people belonging to Keppapulavu. It has been announced that if the lands of these people were not released before next Monday, protests throughout the Northern Province would be staged.
Protests have been staged in eastern province in solidarity with the protest of people belonging to Keppapulavu. Eastern Provincial Councilors also raised their voice for the immediate release of the lands of the people belonging to Keppapulavu.
