Suresh, the Secretary of the Ministry of Rehabilitation, Resettlement, Northern Development and Hindu Religious Affairs, stated that permission has been given for the resettlement of the people of Iranaitivu at their own land.
Suresh, the Secretary of the Ministry of Resettlement, R.Rajapakse, the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Defense and Real Admiral S.S.Ranasinghe, the Navy Commander of Sri Lanka visited Iranaitivu yesterday (15-05-2018).
Suntharam Arumainayaham, the District Secretary of Killinochchi, Krishnenthiran, the Divisional Secretary of Pooneryn and Northern Provincial Member Thavanathan also accompanied them.
These officials, who visited there revealed, that people of Iranaitivu would be resettled at their own land. Lands of the people have already been identified. Based on it, 190 families will be resettled, according to them.
Having considered the National Security, prevention of narcotics and security of the people, Sri Lankan Navy keeps on occupying 8 acres of land, according to the officials.
Meanwhile, District Secretariat of Killinochchi stated that District Secretariat of Killinochchi would make the fundamental needs available to the people who are going to be resettled.
