The administration of Jaffna University has decided to ban all the senior students of Kilinochchi campus from entering the campus premises from today (10) over inhumane ragging of freshmen students.

A group of senior students of the Kilinochchi Campus have inhumanely ragged a group of new students by sexually harassing and recording the acts on mobile phones. It has been reported that the new students were forced to provide the recordings to the senior students.

As a result, the university administration has decided to impose the ban until the investigations into the incident are completed.

Administration of Jaffna University and the University Grants Commission have already commenced investigations into the ragging and reportedly the senior students who were ragging the freshmen have been identified.

The investigations have also revealed that although the seniors have threatened the new students not to provide information to outside, that information have been received by the authorities.

The Kilinochchi Campus has been barred for all senior students until the investigations are completed and the University of Jaffna Administrative Unit has decided to take maximum disciplinary action against the offenders.
