As at Thursday (30th),17 individuals suspected to have been infected with Coronavirus are under surveillance at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID). One patient has already been confirmed positive while there were six new admissions.
Five patients were discharged during last 24 hours, a Health Ministry Spokesman said.
According to the spokesman, there is no scientific justification for the public,including children to wear face masks. A Quarantine plan is in place for the students who will be coming back to Sri Lanka from Wuhan city, once allowed.
“Twelve hospitals around the country have been identified as treatment centers for people suspected to have been infected by the coronavirus. They are (NIID), Teaching Hospital (TH) Ragama, DGH Gampaha, DGH Negombo, National Hospital, Kandy, TH Karapitiya, TH Anuradhapura, TH Jaffna, TH Kurunegala, PGH Rathnapura, TH Batticaloa, PGH Badulla,” he said. “The returning Sri Lankan students (also those who visited China for other purposes during the last 14 days) are advised to stay in their homes with minimal contacts with others for two weeks from the day of arrival to Sri Lanka,” he added.
