Former Northern Provincial Council Tamil National Alliance member M.K. Shivajilingam and former Eastern Province Governor M.L.A.M. Hizbullah have entered the race to become President at the November Presidential election.
Shivajilingam and Hizbullah paid the cash deposit at the Election Commission.
Hizbullah was a former State Minister before being appointed as the Eastern Province Governor.
He was forced to resign as Eastern Province Governor following the Easter Sunday attacks.
Hizbullah had been accused of having links to the attacks, an allegation he denies.
Shivajilingam was a member of Parliament and then member of the Northern Provincial Council.
He has been very vocal on demanding accountability for alleged war crimes and has been pushing for an international investigation on incidents related to the war in Sri Lanka.
