Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake has spoken highly of the proposed Belt and Road Initiative, saying that Colombo would like to see more Chinese investments.
The newly-appointed Foreign Minister told Xinhua news agency that China and Sri Lanka had maintained strong ties since ancient times, with the relationship being at its strongest level at present.
While appreciating the large-scale investments China had brought to Sri Lanka, especially since the end of a civil war between the Government and the LTTE in 2009, Karunanayake said the country would benefit from more Chinese investments.
“We appreciate the investments that are coming in from China, but we would like to see much more,” he said.
