The tenth annual International Maritime Conference ‘Galle Dialogue 2019’ organized by the Sri Lanka Navy under the auspices of the Ministry of Defense commenced in capital Colombo on Monday with the participation of representatives from 55 countries.
The two-day conference held at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo, under the theme ‘Refining Mindset to Address Transnational Maritime Threats; A Review of the Decade’ will bring together maritime partners from 55 countries, 12 international organizations and three Defense Industries on the invitation of the Sri Lanka Navy.
The Galle Dialogue 2019 intends to focus on addressing the future with revised mind-set to meet the maritime threats based on the experiences of last 10 years from all stakeholders and the stakeholders have been invited to present their case-studies based on facts, figures, lessons learned and recommendations in preparing for the third decade of the new millennium.
This year’s conference which is expected to draw a host of defense chiefs in the maritime fraternity will send out a clear message to the entire world about strengthened security in the country, following the Easter Sunday Attacks on 21st April, the organizers said. It will also help create the good image of the island nation and promote tourism industry.
