The people of Keppapilavu, who stated that they are in a position to protest themselves for their lands though the expectations of getting their native lands are yet to be materialized, added that they would intensify their protest if proper reply for the letters sent to the President, the Prime Minister and the Opposition leader is met.
The people of Keppapilavu, who have been staging protest demanding their native lands for more than 588 days, have sent a memorandum consisting of their demands to the President, the Prime Minister and the Opposition leader last Monday.
In this memorandum, they pointed out that they have been resettled in the alternative lands, where no employment opportunities available, after being denied their right to live in their native lands.
As nothing happened though several demands, demanding their lives at their native lands peacefully, the people of Keppapilavu has started their protest 1st of last March at the road site. A portion of lands were released on the 303rd day of their continuous protest and the people expressed their thanks for it the people added.
“Lands, school, nursery and public ground belonging to 104 families are yet to be released. No solution has been met even in the government of good governance. We, who have been protesting in the midst of rain, drought and other natural disasters, need to exercise our rights”, they added in the letter.
The protest will be intensified if proper solution is not met, the people highlighted.
